Tire Compatibility

  • It is the user’s responsibility to check that the selected tire model is compatible with hookless rims (refer to tire manufacturer’s specifications). Inner tubes may be used however the tire must feature tubeless beads to ensure it remains seated.
  • Tubeless straight side (TSS) wheels must be used with Hookless compatible tubeless ready tires with width between 28mm and 50 mm (ISO 5775).
  • The maximum inflation pressure is 4.7 bar (68 psi) for a 28mm tire.

Tips and restrictions

Running tubeless tires requires specific care when it comes to installation and maintenance.

  • Use only plastic tire levers
  • When installing the tire, 2 layers of 0.1mm thick rim tape must be installed against the inner rim bed to ensure an airtight seal.
  • CO2 cartridges, high flow pumps and compressors MUST Not be used to inflate TSS tubless tires on the Essentia wheels.

Tubeless hookless compatibility and pressure

You have chosen tubeless hookless wheels for your next ride. Please read this manual thoroughly as it contains important information regarding the correct assembly, use and maintenance of your wheels. Proper use and regular maintenance of your wheels and accessories will increase the life span of your products and your safety.

Tubeless Hookless – Maximum Inflation Pressure

Tire widths may range from 700×28 mm to 700×45 mm. Tubeless straight side (TSS) wheels, also called «hookless», must be used with Hookless compatible tubeless ready tires with a section comprised between 28mm and 45 mm (ISO 5775). It is the user’s responsibility to check that the selected model is compatible with hookless rims (refer to tire manufacturer’s specifications). Inner tubes may be used however the tire must feature tubeless bead to ensure it remains seated. The maximum recommended inflation pressure is the same with or without an inner tube. The maximum inflation pressure is 4.7 bar (68 psi) for a 28mm tire. Please refer to the inflation pressure chart below to help establish your ideal tire pressure. Should the maximum pressure recommended by the tire manufacturer be inferior to our chart, do not exceed the manufacturer’s value. Running tubeless tires requires specific care when it comes to installation and maintenance. Select a wider tire for added comfort and reduced risk of punctures on gravel roads.
When installing the tire, you will need 2 layers of 0.1mm thick rim tape installed on the rim to ensure an airtight seal.
When inflating, CO2 cartridges, high flow pumps and compressors MUST not be used as you can easily over inflate the tire.
It is important to note that we have designed our Essentia wheels aligned with the practice of Gravel according to the ASTM2 category, which cannot be considered as a mountain bike practice. Corima will not be held responsible in case of problems, damage, or accidents due to an inappropriate use, improper of tire selection or an improper tire inflation pressure.

Tire Air Pressure

Depending on the width of the tire, refer to the table below.

tire section mm

max. pressure (bar)

max. pressure (psi)
28 4.7 68
30 4.5 65
35 3.8 55
40 3.5 50
42 3.2 46
45 3.0 43
50 2.8 40

Specificities of minimum pressure

In addition to a maximum pressure, it is also necessary to respect a minimum pressure according to the weight of the cyclist + equipment and the tire section.
More Information
Important: If the tire manufacturer indicates an inflation pressure lower than that in the table, the lower value must be used.

The above pressures are given as indications only. These numbers may vary according to the type of tire, carcass, or dimensions specific to each tire manufacturer. When looking for extra riding comfort, it is always recommended to use the widest possible tire section rather than reducing tire pressure too much on a narrower tire. It is important to note that Gravel riding, according to the specification of the ASTM2 category, cannot be considered mountain biking.
